Pet product company Balphar has announced its decision to manufacture a batch of hand sanitiser to help with the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Produced at the manufacturing site near Beaphar’s head office in Raalte, the Netherlands, the one-off project has produced 22,500 bottles of hand sanitiser. The hand gels have been sent to all Beaphar employees still working at production sites in the Netherlands and the UK, but have also been sent to Beaphar offices around the world to distribute locally.
Dr Sue Huggett, business manager, Beaphar UK said: “Disinfectant manufacture is something we already do and, as a family-run company, we are using this knowledge to produce hand sanitiser to support our working family, as well as families within local communities.
“The hand gel is already being used by our production staff at Gainsborough and being distributed locally.”
The company said two local pet retailers, Trim Pets and The Dog House, five local primary schools, St Barnabas Hospice and several local care homes in the Gainsborough area will be receiving bottles of the new hand sanitiser.
Some bottles will also be sent to West Lindsey District Council for use in their offices and by their frontline workers, such as the refuse collection team, as well as a local Tesco store for customers to use as they go to do their shopping.
Huggett added: “We’re living in unusual times, but everyone within the company is thrilled that we can not only help keep pets happy and healthy, but that we can do our bit in helping people keep themselves safe as well.”
