Johnston and Jeff expands product range for wildlife care
Maddy Johnston, Marketing and Media manager, said that the launches were part of a move by Johnston and Jeff to ensure it could help people to support all wildlife, not just birds

Bird feed manufacturer Johnston and Jeff has increased its product range in a bid to help people care for a greater variety of wildlife.
The brand, which has been supplying high-quality wild bird seed for nearly 150 years, has now launched a dedicated hedgehog mix to help slow the ongoing decline of the species.
It has also launched a hedgehog house as part of its wooden products range and is creating feeders and shelters for a growing number of animals.
Additionally, Johnston and Jeff is also supplying its Squirrel and Chipmunk mix in a 1.2kg, plastic-free bag, and its Duck, Swan and Goose mix in a 1.5kg, plastic-free bag to make the blends “more portable”.
This will enable people to feed wildlife in public places such as parks and other communal areas.
Maddy Johnston, Marketing and Media manager, said that the launches were part of a move by Johnston and Jeff to ensure it could help people to support all wildlife, not just birds.
Johnston said: “Johnston and Jeff is well known for supplying high-quality bird food for both wild and kept birds, but as people become more aware of the plight our wildlife is facing and the ongoing loss of biodiversity in the UK, we want to help them help all wildlife. As a result, we’re evolving our product ranges to encompass more feeds and wooden products aimed at the animals in your garden such as hedgehogs, rabbits, and squirrels.
“The hedgehog feed is a first for us and will hopefully go some way to stemming the loss of these wonderful little garden visitors. Hedgehogs have seen declines of between 30% and 75% across different areas of the UK since 2000 and without some form of intervention, this trend is likely to continue.”
She added: “So many of our customers tell us about the fond memories they have of feeding the ducks in the park when they were children. Often, experiences like this are what turns people into lifelong nature lovers.
“So, we have created easy to carry bags full of nutritious food for birds and animals to help people care for wildlife wherever they find it. Essentially, we want to support people in helping all wildlife and in making a difference, and we’re gradually evolving our product range to reflect this.”
