East Mids Pet and Reptile Supplies store in Leicester has announced its closure due to rising operating costs and rent.
It said that the store has been battling for a year to be open and that it would cease trading no later than 19 August.
It also stated that no more stock would be purchased and during this week it will try and sell off the remaining stock it holds.
In a post on Facebook the pet and reptile retailer also made an appeal to employers to recruit its staff.
East Mids Pet and Reptile Supplies said: โWe have battled for the past 12 months to remain open to serve our local customers however we just canโt do so anymore. We have had a great 12 years serving you all (ironically 12 years to today’s date ) and we have made some fantastic friendships along the way. Nothing brings a tear to my eye knowing that everything we have worked for has suddenly been taken away from us.
โSo from all the staff and management at Empets we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for not only sticking by us when times were tough but for the friendships we have formed in just over a decade. Our Facebook page will remain open and active so if ever you need us you know where to come. P.s. please remember we have some amazing staff that will be looking for work. If you need a position filled I can highly recommend talking to us so I can put you in touch.โ
