Tangle to launch new Tangle Dog Bowl
Tangle has also joined forces with Ghost Fishing UK, a charity dedicated to removing abandoned, lost and discarded fishing gear from UK waters
Sustainable dog brand Tangle has announced the launch of the Tangle Dog Bowl, crafted out of end-of-life fishing nets, on 1 July 2023.
The brand said it is on a mission to put an end to ghost nets, lost or abandoned fishing nets, from entering our oceans and killing marine life through a range of high-end sustainable dog accessories made from recycled fishing nets in the UK.
The Tangle Dog Bowl is said to be lightweight, durable and sustainable.
The medium sized teal marble effect bowl shows the natural colour of the recycled fishing nets that itโs made from and are ideal for water or kibble.
Additionally, it features a thick non-slip ring around the bowl’s base that prevents spills during meals and retails for ยฃ29.99.
According to Tangle, nearly half of the plastic in the ocean comes from ghost fishing nets that have been discarded in the sea. These nets are often made from harsh plastics that take centuries to degrade and are killing millions of marine species every year.
Concerned by the risk ghost nets were causing to marine life, Xavier Warburton, co-founder of Tangle started the business in 2022, by repurposing the nets into โlong lastingโ, โpremiumโ dog products.
Tangle has also joined forces with Ghost Fishing UK, a charity dedicated to removing abandoned, lost and discarded fishing gear from UK waters.
Warburton said: โAs an eco-conscious dog owner, it was so important to me to have a positive impact on the environment and also create top of the range products that last. Following the incredible success of our first product, the Tangle Dog Lead, which we launched last year, we know that dog owners want to make a difference too. They love our products and have been patiently waiting for the next product launch, the Tangle Dog Bowl.
โThese awful ghost nets make up nearly half of all ocean plastics, and our precious marine life is being needlessly killed because of these floating death traps. By creating our beautifully made dog products from recycled nets, Tangleโs helping animal lovers save marine life in the oceans, we’re now on track to stop 526 tennis courts worth (137,800 sqm) of fishing nets becoming ghost nets this year.โ
