Bob Mortimer unveiled as BHWT patron
He joins the hen charity’s other patrons including Kate Humble, Jamie Oliver, Pam Ayres, Jimmy Doherty, Amanda Holden and the Duchess of Richmond
The British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT) has announced that comedian Bob Mortimer will become its new patron.
In 2020, he and his wife Lisa designed the charity’s Christmas cards which sold out within 30 minutes, before being restocked several times.
Mortimer has now become a patron of the BHWT, which aims to save hens from slaughter and rehome them as family pets.
He joins the charity’s other patrons including Kate Humble, Jamie Oliver, Pam Ayres, Jimmy Doherty, Amanda Holden and the Duchess of Richmond.
He said: “We have had hens ourselves when our boys were younger, and it was the first time I ever tasted a ‘real’ egg.
“Since then, I’ve learned more about the difference between free range and organic eggs, and I think the BHWT is a really worthwhile endeavour, so to be able to help them is a very nice thing.”
