Fears raised over series of cat shootings

The RSPCA has appealed for information regarding a series of cat shootings in Essex.
On April 20, 15-year-old black cat, Roger, died after being shot, stamped on and thrown into a field in Great Bentley. On 22 April, vets reported a possible shooting to the RSPCA after discovering a pellet while operated on Alfie, a injured cat from West Bergholt. A further incident was reported in Ardleigh, Colchester, on April 8, when three year old Puss-Puss survived 30 pellet-related injuries, despite losing an eye.
RSPCA inspector Caroline Richardson-Braunsaid: “I’m massively concerned that there have been three similar incidents in such a short space of time and in such close proximity to one another,” inspector Richardson-Braun said. “This seems to be becoming almost a weekly occurrence, all in villages around the Colchester area.”
Anyone with information on the incidents should contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
