James Wellbeloved raises £2,500 for Dogs for the Disabled
Pet food producer James Wellbeloved has raised £2,500 for a dog charity by competing in a gruelling charity bike ride.
A team of seven cyclists from the company, dubbed the Magnificent Seven, rode the arduous London to Brighton course to continue previous efforts – last year James Wellbeloved staff raised £6,500 for Dogs for the Disabled.
Marketing executive Caroline Gray said the race was worth the tired limbs because of the overall outcome. “It was for a great cause and we all rose to the challenge – even if our legs were a little bit sore for the next day or so,” she added.
Staff members cycled the 50-mile course in aid of the charity, which aims to create partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs. The dogs provide practical assistance and real freedom and independence for children and adults with a wide range of physical disabilities, including children with autism. Marketing manager Anne-Laure Jaouën said: “We are so proud of all of those taking part. The fund-raising for Dogs for The Disabled isn’t over yet, though. If any of our pet trade colleagues would like to donate, they can visit the just giving page at www.justgiving.com/jwbbigcycle”.
