Mugly from Peterborough wins World’s Ugliest Dog
From a field of 29 competitors, Mugly – a Chinese Crested rescue dog from Peterborough – took first place at the annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest held in north California.
The eight-year-old rescue dog will be invited for a photo shoot and will receive a VIP stay at the local Sheraton. Mugly also won $1,000 and a year’s supply of dog cookies.
The dog’s owner Bev Nicholson said: “I couldn’t speak when they announced Mugly’s name. I didn’t know which way to look. I was shaking as much as the dog.”
Mugly, who in the past has suffered an attack by thugs in a park, also volunteers as a Pets As Therapy dog for children, paying visits to hospitals.
