Hug enters market with hybrid pet food offering
A new pet food company that offers pet owners a “unique option” when it comes to wholefood diets and natural feeding has entered the market.
Hug offers “complete, genuinely healthy” meals for pets, and produces a range of recipes that are designed to support cats and dogs of all ages and conditions.
The company offers meals that can be served raw, warmed or be cooked, with offerings for both cats and dogs. In addition, Hug has created videos that take owners through a range of serving suggestions for their pets.
Established this year, Hug said its products are backed by science as well as a team of vets, veterinary nurses, and nutritionists. The company was founded by Vicky Marshall, who originally co-founded one of the first commercial raw pet food companies over 10 years ago.
Marshall said: “Not all pets can cope with raw food and not all pet families can either. I wanted to create a range of food that offers a natural feeding option to those who can’t simply feed a standard bone-in raw product. One of my dogs simply won’t touch raw food, but as soon as I heat it he can’t get enough!”
The company claims to manufacture “only simple, naturally balanced food that makes for stronger, happier pets”, and only sources ingredients from suppliers who “share its ethical and environmental values”.
Hug food is fresh frozen, and arrives in containers ready to place into a microwave. Alternatively, the food can be served raw. There is also a range of cold pressed recipes for pet owners who do not have a freezer.
