Pet food packaging market to reach £10.2bn by 2025
The global pet food packaging market size is projected to grow from $10.2bn (£8.3bn) in 2020 to $12.5bn (£10.2bn) by 2025, at an annual growth rate of 4.2%, according to Research and Markets.
The market report group said that a “rising affection” for pets, growing pet humanization and a “demand for simplicity and convenience in packaging” are all key factors contributing towards the increasing growth of the pet food packaging industry.
In terms of packaging, pouches are projected to grow at the highest annual rate of growth during the forecast period, in terms of value as well as volume.
The growth of pouches was due to an “increasing demand” by various pet food brands, as well as the range of formats that pouches can come in, such as single-serve packs and small pouches.
In regards to pet food products, the cat food segment of the pet food packaging market was also projected to grow at the highest rate of growth in both value and volume.
Nonetheless, the dog food segment is expected to remain the largest segment through the projected period from 2020 to 2025.
In addition, plastic products are projected to lead the pet food packaging market from 2020 to 2025.
Research and Markets said: “The durable, lightweight, cost-effective, and versatile nature of plastic packaging makes it the largest segment in the pet food packaging market.”
