Pets at Home issues guidelines to customers amid coronavirus crisis

The chief executive of retailer Pets at Home, Peter Pritchard, has issued new guidelines to customers amid the Covid-19 virus outbreak.

Whilst many shops have been urged to temporarily close, Pets at Home has been permitted to remain open to serve pet owners “essential items”.

Some of the new measures put in place by the retailer include only allowing a small number of people inside the store at one time, social distancing rules across the store as well as operating under new timings from 9am to 6pm.

The retailer also revealed cash is “not allowed” and it will only accept card payments.

It has however closed all of its ‘Groom Room’ salons.

Pritchard said: “I know these are worrying times for everyone. Never have I been prouder of my colleagues throughout the entire business, who through adversity have given their all to serve our customers.

“They are tired and worried like you but have chosen to come to work to ensure the nation’s pets are fed and kept healthy. A smile goes such a long way and we would really appreciate you being super patient as everyone is working hard to support you and your pets.”

He added:”Thank you so much for your support and most of all, please take care and be safe.”
