Sera acquires Interpet aquatic brands
Interpet was founded in the UK by Dr. Neville Carrington, a British chemist with a deep love for fishkeeping

Aquarium care and fishkeeping brand Interpet has signed an asset purchase agreement with aquatic products manufacturer Sera GmbH to transfer ownership of the Interpet, Blagdon, and Aquagarden aquatic brands.
With over a century of combined experience, Sera will bring its strong market presence in Europe alongside its food and care product range. Meanwhile, Interpet will expand Sera’s pond segment in particular with its products.
Both companies will also develop new products for aquaristics and fishkeeping.
Interpet’s UK-based sales, marketing, and development teams will continue supporting the aquatic brands during the transition.
Interpet was founded in the UK by Dr. Neville Carrington, a British chemist with a deep love for fishkeeping.
His passion was inspired by his father, O.L. Carrington, who had been an avid fishkeeper since the 1930s. In the early 1950s, Neville and his father developed a formula for liquid fish food during a family holiday. This innovation, known as Liquifry, marked the birth of Interpet Ltd. In 2004, Interpet joined the Central Garden and Pet family.
Maximilian Deharde, managing director of sera, said: “Our partnership with Interpet is a significant step toward a successful future. Together, we will combine our strengths and offer our customers an even more comprehensive range. We look forward to the upcoming developments.”
