Charity professionals launch Advovet Consultancy

Both Roberts and Sullivan are ‘passionate about animal welfare’ and have most recently been senior leaders in a national animal charity

Vet Dr Maggie Roberts and lawyer Dominic Sullivan have joined forces to launch Advovet consultancy.

The venture will offer advice on governance, charity and animal welfare law, shelter medicine, shelter design and training.

Both Roberts and Sullivan are “passionate about animal welfare” and have most recently been senior leaders in a national animal charity.

They have recently led teams involved in veterinary services, animal welfare, research, advocacy, education, legal services, and construction and have assisted animal charities in the UK and across the world.

Roberts said: “Many people start up animal charities with the best of intentions but can lack the experience of running an organisation or dealing with multiple animals. During my career I’ve seen many become overwhelmed or run out of funds, which can have a negative effect on their mental health and the animals in their care.

“Others may be doing well but don’t have the capacity or expertise to maximise their impact. However, with the right support and guidance these organisations can make a real difference to the animals that need them and this is where we want to help.”

Sullivan added: “Many charities are finding it challenging in the current climate and struggle with things like governance and animal welfare law. We’re keen to help them increase their effectiveness and ultimately improve the lives of the animals they are caring for.”
