Building work starts on biggest vet referral centre in London

There will also be a 64-slice CT scanner, fluoroscopy and on-site laboratory enabling rapid diagnosis

London Vet Specialists (LVS) has announced that work has begun on building its new veterinary referral centre which will be the biggest in London.

The 12,000 sq ft state-of-the-art animal hospital will be the new home for Linnaeus-owned firm and is due to open its doors next year.

Located next to the River Thames, the new £8m LVS facility will contain nine consulting rooms, a surgical suite containing three surgical theatres, a separate intensive care ward and an isolation ward.

Cats will also receive the best possible treatment with a dedicated cat waiting area, separate cat ward and cat-specific procedure and exercise rooms.

The “cutting-edge” facility will be the first static high-field MRI for veterinary use within
London, which will be supported by a specialist neurology service.

There will also be a 64-slice CT scanner,fluoroscopy and on-site laboratory enabling rapid diagnosis.

Emma Laws, hospital director at LVS, said: “The move to Hammersmith is a major milestone for LVS and one we are incredibly excited about.It’s a much larger site than our current centre and will house some of the UK’s top veterinary specialists and state-of-the-art equipment, which will help us continue to provide the best treatment possible for patients.”
