Pets Choice launches CBD calming spray

A recent YouGov survey found that 73% of UK dog owners say their dog experiences separation anxiety

Pets Choice has launched a new CBD calming spray which aims to tackle stress and anxiety in pets.

The lavender scented spray can be applied directly to a petโ€™s bedding or immediate surroundings like carpets or other soft furnishings.

The spray uses CBD isolate oil extracted from the flowers, leaves, and stems of cannabis plants to help calm the neurological pathways.

The company stated that the launch comes amid increased demand from pet owners for a product like this.

A recent YouGov survey found that 73% of UK dog owners say their dog experiences separation anxiety and the PDSA found that โ€˜chronic stressโ€™ was one of the leading issues relating to cat welfare in the UK.

Lisa Melvin, head of marketing at Pets Choice, said: โ€œSeveral factors cause stress and anxiety for our pets, including boredom, frustration, fear or even simple changes in routine. We have seen a huge increase in pet owners searching for products to help manage their petsโ€™ behavioural issues, with the pandemic only making things worse for many households.โ€

โ€œOur own consumer research found that over 62% of pet owners have purchased a calming product for their pet, with over a third saying that they use a calming product daily,โ€ added Lisa.โ€

She added: โ€œThis demonstrates the increased awareness amongst pet owners of their own petโ€™s emotional wellbeing and their willingness to spend money on products that they feel will help to alleviate behavioural issues.โ€
