Kennel Club appoints genetics research manager
Dr. Joanna J. Ilska replaces Dr. Tom Lewis in the role
Kennel Club has announced the appointment of Dr. Joanna J. Ilska, a quantitative geneticist, as its new genetics research manager.
Dr. Ilska replaces Dr. Tom Lewis in the position, who has left to take on a new role with Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Ilska has a MSc in Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis, and a PhD in genomic prediction of breeding values in broiler chickens from the University of Edinburgh.
After finishing her higher education, Ilska worked as a research fellow on a number of projects, studying a variety of animal species.
Bill Lambert, head of Health and Welfare at The Kennel Club, said: “We are delighted to welcome Joanna to The Kennel Club.
“With her academic and professional background in quantitative genetics and knowledge of prediction of breeding values for complex traits, coupled with her hands-on involvement as a pedigree dog owner, we feel confident that Joanna will be a great asset to The Kennel Club as well as to the wider dog world.”
