Lifetime Achievement Award given to John Burns
Veterinary surgeon and business owner, John Burns of Burns Pet Nutrition has taken home the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Swansea Bay Business Awards.
John launched Burns Pet Nutrition back in 1993 while working as a vet in practice. Believing diet to be the primary cause of many pet ailments including itchy skin, moulting and digestive problems, John recommended that his clients feed natural, healthy pet food based on protein, brown rice and vegetables. Unable to find any such food on the market, John decided to launched his own.
This summer, Burns will celebrate 25 years of business, and 25 years of happy and healthy pets.
In addition to winning the Lifetime Achievement award, John and the team also took home Manufacturer of the Year award for their wet food range, Penlan Farm which is made and produced at the Burns factory in Burry Port.
Speaking on his win, John said “I was surprised and thrilled to receive the award and I am very grateful to the Swansea Bay Business Club. Twenty five years ago I set out to promote pet health and well-being through high quality nutrition. I think I have achieved that goal and at the same time, I and all my colleagues at Burns have built a successful business based on ethical principles.
“I’m particularly proud that everyone associated with Burns – pets, pet owners, suppliers, employees and the locality of West Wales – have gained from our efforts.”
