Charity opens new Volunteering and Fostering Resource Centre
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has opened a new Volunteering and Fostering Resource Centre.
The new Volunteering and Fostering Resource Centre, funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery includes a social area for relaxing and catching up on Battersea news, computers for learning and development and a library full of books on dog and cat welfare and behaviour.
The Resource Centre is just one of the ways the charity is celebrating the hard work from each volunteer.
Volunteers spend on average two and a half years helping Battersea care for over 7000 animals every year. Last year volunteers donated over 83,000 hours to helping the charity.
Charlotte Fielder, head of volunteering and fostering at Battersea, said: “I’m proud that Battersea is able to offer this kind of facility to our volunteers all thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The Volunteering and Fostering Resource Centre is a place where all of our dedicated volunteers and foster carers can retreat and connect with fellow volunteers and staff.
“We’ve spent time creating the Resources Centre because we want it to be a place of inspiration to bring out creativity and positive energy. Battersea recognises that a lot of our volunteers want to develop their roles, and this is just one way in which we can help and give back to the volunteers and foster carers.”
Battersea’s Volunteering and Fostering Department depend on the generosity from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who have awarded £200,000 to help expand the Home’s volunteering and fostering programme.
