A tortoise stolen from a West Lancashire pet shop has been returned anonymously.
Lathom’s Pets and Aquatics issued social media appeals to try and find the lost pet and it seems to have worked.
The company posted on facebook: “Just to let you all know that our tortoise has now been returned!! He was anonymously dropped off at the garden centre tills!
“A massive thank you to everyone who commented, shared and messaged us! We are overwhelmed by the amount of support from everyone and we are so appreciative of it all!
“We’re so glad to have this little guy back too, the first thing he did was go straight over to the food bowl to fill up his little tummy!
“Again a massive thanks to all you lovely people out there!”
The thief was caught on CCTV and the shop voiced its concerns alongside a picture from the security footage last week.
The shop said on facebook: “We are more concerned for the care of this exotic species as they have specific care requirements and we’re hoping for the safe return of this little fella. To the person who has stolen this tortoise if he is returned we won’t take any further action.”
